Daily Quote: Quotes from Nelson Mandela

Zig Ziglar had this to say about quotes:

“If you’re like me, you’ll jump at the chance to bypass all the churning and scoop the cream right off the top. And that’s what quotes are …the cream of our learning.”

I am an inspirational quote lover. The right words can engage the brain and bring an idea to life. With quotes, I’ve had many “a-ha” moments, where I’ve read it and thought, “Wow, that’s exactly how I feel!” An idea that was once a “blur” can suddenly become crystal clear.
The book Great Quotes from Great Leaders will be a source of inspiration and knowledge for many years to come. It is a beautiful coffee table edition with 160 pages, 75 wonderful photographs, a concise bio for each featured leader, and over 400 great quotations from leaders in all walks of life.

Nelson Mandela
Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela was the first President of South Africa to be elected in fully-representative democratic elections. He joined the African National Congress, ANC, in 1944 and was an anti-apartheid activist. Mandela was imprisoned for plotting to overthrow the government to end apartheid.
Throughout his 27 years in prison, Nelson Mandela rejected any compromise of his political position to procure his freedom. Upon his release in 1990, Mandela proclaimed his commitment to reconciliation and peace with the country’s white minority. During his presidency from 1994 -1999 he oversaw the transition from minority rule and apartheid.
After retirement Mandela became an advocate for numerous social and human rights organizations. He has been honored with more than a hundred awards in recognition of his tireless dedication and contribution to these causes. Nelson Mandela’s strong ideals of international understanding and peace continue to impact the world.
Quotes from Nelson Mandela:
“For to be free is not merely to cast off one’s chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others.”
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
“Man’s goodness is a flame that can be hidden but never extinguished.”
“The first thing is to be honest with yourself. You can never have an impact on society if you have not changed yourself… Great peacemakers are all people of integrity, of honesty, and humility.”
“The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.”
